WE DID IT! Thanks to all of you, Make It Dough took home the Reader's Choice Award for Best Special-Interest Blog at the Saveur Blog Awards.
The win came as a complete shock, as I never thought I could win such a tremendous honor after only one year of making sourdough and blogging. It's been such a pleasure creating recipes and sharing them with all of you. I honestly still can't believe it when I see one of my blogs shared on Facebook, or when one of you sends me a photo of your interpretations of my recipes. I'm so grateful that so many of you have come to appreciate and find value in my personal obsession.
No words can express the depth of my appreciation and gratitude to all of you who voted for me and continue to read my blog. In addition to winning my category, I was able to meet so many inspiring creators and storytellers who are at the forefront of their craft. Tavola Mediterranean who quickly became my best friend won the Editor's Choice Award in my category. We were in total shock after our names were announced, we screamed and held hands walking up to the stage. Farrell is one of the most amazing people I have ever met, she's an archaeologist who is blogging about ancient recipes to tell the stories of women and slaves who are silenced by male-dominated narratives of history. Visit her blog and check out the full list of Saveur Blog Awards winners and nominees to see and read the most inspired stories about food.
I think I speak for everyone of the finalists when I say just being able to attend the event was a privilege. Being in the company of so many skilled cooks, bakers, writers and photographers was incredibly intoxicating. Each person I met had an interesting point-of-view on food, a compelling story to tell and heaps of advice to share. I don't remember the last time I was surrounded by so many people who were so utterly passionate and inspired, and for that I am truly grateful to Saveur
Saveur and Cincy Experience put together an itinerary packed with activities that made it impossible not to fall in love with Cincinnati. From it's history, to the food and beverage scene, and all the murals that adorned the city, Cincinatti had so much charm that could not possibly be packed into just one trip. I never thought I would visit, but now I can't wait to go back.

I am also a sour dough baker. I have had the same starter for over ten years. I have had people feed it when I go on vacation lol. Love the different recipes you have.
